 Tyrers Department Store was founded in 1888 by my Great Grandfather with a loan of just £50 and a box of boots (hard to believe I know) and has been handed down through the generations to my grandfather, my father and now myself. Even back in the 19th century the name Tyrers became synonymous with quality, reliability and customer service. Today our team is dedicated to maintaining these standards. Tyrers Department Store has undergone significant changes during the last few hundred years and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to take our well respected family business into the 21st century. Ladies fashion is the largest department of Tyrers Store on Bridge Street. We cater for a wide range of occasions and ages including Great Grandma... Helen Wilson our fashion buyer ensures that each season there is an inspiring range to suit all tastes - going the extra mile to bring something different and unique from the ever changing world of fashion. For many of us, choosing a 'special occasion' outfit or simply some good honest advice can be a daunting experience, Helen and her team have been with us for long enough to understand the importance of time and patience reflected in the level of service unique to Tyrers.

Lingerie Department:
Lingerie is an area for experts who have experience in the various special requirements which come hand in hand with fitting the perfect bra. "Did you know that 70% of women are wearing the wrong size bra and only 1 in 10 women have been fitted for their bra?" Wearing a fitted bra will not only make you look better, you will feel better too. Our free bra fitting service only takes a few moments and our experienced staff will also advise you on the type of bra you require for your figure and clothes. Restaurant:
Our restaurant has to be one of the busiest meeting places in town... the success of it undoubtedly being down to the home made, freshly prepared fare which we proudly display without fail on a daily basis. Managed by Terrence Graham Hesketh and his friendly team of keen and experienced staff, the restaurant is the perfect place to come for a relaxed morning coffee, tasty lunch or afternoon snack... watch out for the cream scones and Eccles cakes - definitely naughty but very nice! Hair Studio:
Tyrers Hair Studio has been part of the business now for nearly thirty years and is renowned for its professional yet warm and friendly atmosphere. Our team works to a consistently high standard and as a result, the studio continues to grow in popularity offering our clients something a little bit special. Lynn Borrowdale, Style Director and manageress of the salon has over 20 years of experience and has spent time working as a stylist in London before joining us in 2003 when we re-launched our new and modern look as 'Tyrers Hair Studio'.
